The incident occurred on Thursday, 5 January, at the intersection of Asnyka and Karola Miarki streets, by the high-rise building of Bolesławiec City Hall. Shortly after 8:00 a.m., two cars collided: a Daewoo Matiz and a Volkswagen.

According to the officers’ findings, the driver of the Volkswagen, a 43-year-old resident of Bolesławiec, failed to yield the right of way to the Daewoo, driven by a 35-year-old woman.

As it turned out, the damage to the injured party’s car was classified as a total loss. The owners of the written-off car are outraged that the offender received only a warning.

We asked the police about the matter. Staff Aspirant Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters:

Each situation is handled and assessed individually. The police officer at the scene takes various factors into account, including the offender’s conduct and history as a driver. The fact that none of the participants was injured as a result of the vehicles’ collision is also significant. In this case, the officer decided to issue the driver a warning.
