On 13 February, an road accident took place in Trzebień, as a result of which an 18-year-old passenger in a passenger car suffered head injuries. Bolesławiec police:

The findings of officers from the Investigation Department of the Bolesławiec police unit show that neither the 18-year-old driver nor the passenger was wearing a seat belt.

The teenagers, who lived near the site of the accident, had only one kilometre to drive. Unfortunately, while negotiating a bend, the driver of the Audi passenger car failed to exercise due caution and did not adjust his speed and driving technique to the prevailing conditions. On the slippery road surface, he lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming lorry.

The passenger, who had suffered a head injury, was taken to hospital. Initial information indicated that his condition was very serious; the driver was detained.

Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters:

The 18-year-old was charged with unintentionally violating a road-traffic safety rule. The passenger suffered bodily injuries resulting in a health disorder and impairment of the function of body organs for more than seven days; his condition is stable. The driver's licence was seized.

The prosecutor placed the teenager under police supervision. The accident's perpetrator may face up to three years in prison. Bolesławiec police:

We remind drivers to adjust their speed to road conditions and their abilities, and to always wear seat belts, even when travelling only a short distance.
