The District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec conducted proceedings in 2019–2020 concerning the production of methamphetamine in one of the localities in the Nowogrodziec municipality. Three residents of Bolesławiec County and one resident of Karkonosze County took part in the operation.
The men divided up the roles: two of them dealt with “cooking rice,” while the other two supplied the raw materials. It was established that nearly 8 kg of methamphetamine, with a black-market value of PLN 2 million, was produced at the “factory” near Bolesławiec.
The prosecutor filed an indictment against the suspects with the District Court in Jelenia Góra. The court agreed with the arguments of the Bolesławiec investigators and, in March last year, sentenced the four defendants to between 7 and 9 years in prison.
The convicted men appealed the aforementioned judgment to the Court of Appeal in Wrocław. At the beginning of February this year, the Wrocław court reduced their sentences: three men received five years in prison, while the fourth received six years. The judgment is final.
It is worth emphasizing that, already at the preparatory-proceedings stage, property worth nearly PLN 1 million was seized from the suspects, including money and a Porsche Cayenne. Both the court of first instance and the appellate court confirmed the findings of the Bolesławiec prosecutor’s office that the seized property came from proceeds obtained through the crime.
This is important because the defendants did not admit their guilt. However, the material gathered by the Bolesławiec investigators left no room for doubt. And thanks to the prosecutor’s office’s meticulous actions, a judgment was issued ordering the forfeiture of all the assets.
