On Valentine’s afternoon, officers from the Legnica traffic police stopped an unmarked police car at a traffic light, on a red light. – The officers noticed the driver of a Mercedes, who stopped next to them. The man was sitting behind the wheel of the car and holding a glass pipe in his mouth – reports Commissioner Jagoda Ekiert, press officer for the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica. – The officers immediately intervened and stopped the 36-year-old for a traffic check. During the conversation, an intense and characteristic smell of marijuana came from the open car.
The driver turned out to be a resident of Chojnów municipality. The spokeswoman said: – The man admitted that he had been smoking dried plant material containing marijuana. A drug test confirmed a positive result for the presence of narcotic substances in his body.
What is more, officers found a bag of dried marijuana and another glass pipe filled with the aforementioned drug in the vehicle. The result? The driver was arrested and placed in police custody.
Police remind drivers:
Driving a car under the influence of a narcotic substance is punishable by up to two years in prison, as well as a ban on driving motor vehicles. Possession of drugs is punishable by up to three years in prison.
