– The new fine schedule provides, among other things, for a high fine for the offense of entering the tracks when the barriers or half-barriers are lowered or their lowering has begun – explains asp. szt. Sylwia Serafin, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin.

This was precisely the offense committed by a 29-year-old resident of Ścinawa and her 22-year-old companion. The spokeswoman said: – The two of them were standing and waiting for the barriers to open at the railway crossing on Jagiełły Street in Ścinawa. At the same time, among other vehicles, officers in a police car were waiting to cross the tracks.

She added:

At a certain point, the woman’s and man’s impatience got the better of them, and despite the fact that the barriers were still closed and a train was already approaching, they decided to run across the tracks. This decision could have ended tragically for the 29-year-old, as the woman slipped on a rail and managed to get back up just seconds before the approaching passenger train.

They were each given a PLN 2,000 fine. The officers appeal:

Let’s remember! Reckless behavior near a railway crossing can cost us our lives, regardless of whether we are pedestrians or traveling in a vehicle.
