Police officers from the SPEED group stopped the driver of a backhoe loader for a roadside inspection on one of Zgorzelec’s streets. – During the ensuing proceedings, the officers detected the smell of alcohol on him. It turned out that the man was intoxicated – reports Inspector Agnieszka Goguł, press officer for the Commander of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec.

She adds:

A check of the available databases showed that the 24-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County was subject to a court-ordered driving ban covering all vehicle categories and was wanted by the justice system to serve a 69-day prison sentence.

What is more, during the intervention the 24-year-old threatened the officers, attempting in this way to force them to stop carrying out their duties.

The man was arrested and taken into custody, where he will await his sentence for the crimes he committed. He now faces an additional prison term of up to five years.
