Officers from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec, while patrolling the municipal area, noticed clouds of smoke rising above one of the houses. They immediately headed to the scene to find out what was causing it and whether the residents were in danger.
Officers:
As they approached the buildings, they noticed that one of the houses was on fire on the first floor, so they immediately notified the duty officer and entered the building. On the ground floor, in one of the rooms, elderly people were sleeping. The couple were surprised to see the police officers because they were unaware that fire was spreading above their heads.
They added:
The police officers helped the seniors leave the building safely. They led the 82-year-old woman outside and carried the ill 86-year-old man out of the burning house. Once the officers had made sure that no one else’s life was in danger, they closed the windows and turned off the gas.
Firefighters then arrived at the scene and began extinguishing the fire, eliminating the danger.
