The incident occurred during the night of January 7–8 in Legnica. – Ten vehicles were set on fire in various parts of the city. Some of them were completely destroyed, while others were damaged to varying degrees – reports Commissioner Jagoda Ekiert, press officer for the Legnica KMP. – Police officers were immediately sent to the scene, where they carefully examined it and secured evidence.

The police officers worked meticulously and with full commitment to identify and arrest the arsonist as quickly as possible. The officers said: – Analysis of the local community, the information gathered and recordings secured from surveillance cameras made it possible to establish the route the suspect may have taken. The first analyses of the evidence established that one person was behind all the vehicle fires.

On January 11, police officers knocked on the suspect’s door. The spokeswoman said:

The 25-year-old was arrested and brought to the police headquarters. The man heard several charges of property damage. During questioning, he confessed to them, explaining that he had been under the influence of alcohol “and something came over him” to set cars on fire.

It turned out that the vandal chose the cars entirely at random. He then watched the vehicle burn and left the scene to set fire to another one.

The serial arsonist now faces up to five years behind bars.
