The force grew by 79 police officers, including 28 women, who were admitted to service in the final days of last year. The officers will now attend basic training at police schools across the country and will later return to their parent units. The oath certificates were presented to the officers by the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Commander in Wrocław, Police Inspector General Dariusz Wesołowski. In addition to the management staff and new officers, musicians from the Police Orchestra of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław also took part in the ceremony.
The Lower Silesian police force has welcomed more new officers into its ranks. Today, they recited the words of the oath during a ceremonial assembly held at the 4th Regional Logistics Base on Pretficza Street in Wrocław. The oath certificates were presented to the newly admitted officers by the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Commander in Wrocław, Police Inspector General Dariusz Wesołowski, in the presence of Deputy Provincial Police Commander in Wrocław Police Inspector Mariusz Bużdygan, the chairman of the Lower Silesian Provincial Board of the NSZZ Police Officers’ Trade Union, and the senior management of police units across Lower Silesia.
During his speech, the general shared several very important words with the young officers about service in the police and the responsibility it entails—not only for themselves but also for others. Wishing them safe service and professional development, he compared it to a blank page that the young officers will now fill with their own actions.
Police Staff Sergeant Piotr Malon, chairman of the Lower Silesian Provincial Board of the NSZZ Police Officers’ Trade Union, also spoke. He congratulated them on making a good career choice that offers opportunities for development in many areas and financial stability, and wished them and their loved ones security in the broadest sense.
Words of encouragement and spiritual support were also offered by the chaplains of the Lower Silesian police force, Canon Priest Stanisław Stelmaszek and Archpriest Grzegorz Cebulski.
In total, the force grew by 384 officers in 2022, including 79 police officers—28 of them women—in the most recent December recruitment drive. After completing basic training, they will all be assigned to their parent units, including: 18 officers to Wrocław, 8 to Trzebnica, 6 to Kłodzko, 4 each to Lubin, Oława and Kamienna Góra, 3 each to Jelenia Góra and Wałbrzych, 2 to Bolesławiec, Legnica, Środa Śląska, Świdnica and Wołów. Some of the young police recruits will also serve in the Police Prevention Unit in Wrocław and the Independent Police Prevention Subunit in Legnica.
During the ceremony, the following officers said farewell to their uniforms: Junior Police Inspector Adam Hajdas, Head of the Control Department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław, and Police Commissioner Jarosław Traczyk, Head of the Department for Combating Corruption of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. Both officers had served continuously in the police since 1994. Accordingly, the relevant personnel orders of the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Commander in Wrocław were read out. He also decided to entrust the duties of Head of the Department for Combating Corruption of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław to Senior Police Commissioner Jacek Kusicielek, previously the deputy head of that department, and to entrust the duties of Deputy Head of the Department for Combating Corruption of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław to Police Commissioner Anna Pinkosz, who had previously served as an expert in the Investigative Department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. Senior Police Commissioner Karol Kusztelak, previously an expert in the department, also received a personnel order from Police Inspector General Dariusz Wesołowski entrusting him with the duties of Deputy Head of the Department for Combating Drug Crime.
Inspector Mariusz Bużdygan, Deputy Provincial Police Commander in Wrocław, who directly supervises the criminal division, was also present at the ceremony and conveyed heartfelt thanks to the officers leaving the service for their work to date, as well as congratulations on their promotions to higher positions.
The musical accompaniment for the assembly was provided by musicians from the Orchestra of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. In accordance with police ceremonial protocol, the trumpeters and drummer played the appropriate signals. For the young officers, these were among their first encounters with police ceremonial traditions, which, in accordance with tradition, they will be able to hear at important official events in the future. As we know, these signals emphasize the importance of such ceremonies.
During the ceremony, those present observed a minute of silence in memory of Constable Natalia Iskra from the Police Station in Kudowa-Zdrój in Kłodzko County, who tragically died in a car accident this morning while returning home after a night shift.
We congratulate all the newly admitted officers on making this life-changing decision, by which they clearly expressed their willingness to help others, and wish them success in the coming years of this difficult but exceptionally rewarding service. The next recruitment is scheduled for 27 February 2023, so we warmly invite new candidates to learn about the conditions of service in the police. Information is available on the Lower Silesian police website.
