A reader told us about the theft of insurgent symbols from her parents’ grave (the cover photo shows the grave in August this year and on October 30).
I was at my parents’ grave today and found it desecrated. Insurgent symbols were stolen from my father’s headstone. Dad was a Warsaw Uprising insurgent, and these symbols are very important to him and to our family. Unfortunately, they are no longer there. It is upsetting because, with All Souls’ Day approaching, we can no longer do anything to fill the empty space with the missing elements. Besides, the cross was an original that Dad received from Warsaw.
We suspect that someone may put them up for sale on the Internet. Perhaps someone will see the information and help us recover our Insurgent’s symbols.
If anyone spots these symbols somewhere, they should notify the police.
