In April last year, we reported that the future of the Museum of Ceramics buildings in Bolesławiec was uncertain. The institution itself—as remains unchanged—will be moved to the building on Zgorzelecka Street, Pückler’s palace, which formerly housed the County Complex of Schools and Special-Education Institutions.
What about the buildings on Kutuzowa and Mickiewicza streets?
Last year, the sale of the building on Kutuzowa Street was being considered. At the time, the Bolesławiec District Court was reportedly interested in the building housing the Museum of Ceramics’ Department of City History—and even... the Russian consul.
That is no longer current. It was decided that the Bolesławiec Museum would have Pückler’s palace and the building on Kutuzowa Street at its disposal. (We reported on this in more detail in the article The old pottery workshop on Widok Street is being demolished. We know what will happen to the furnace and chimney.)
So what about the building on Mickiewicza Street? As Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for Bolesławiec City Hall, informed us, it is still too early to discuss this. No definitive decisions have been made in this matter. One of the ideas? A gallery. (A non-commercial one, of course.) However, this building will definitely not be sold.
We will return to this topic.
