Officers from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec received a report of around 100 trees being cut down on a private plot. KPP Bolesławiec: – During the investigation at the site, it turned out that as many as 268 trees had been cut down over the course of two weeks. The losses were estimated at nearly PLN 40,000.
The information gathered indicated that the theft had been committed by three men from the Nowogrodziec municipality, aged between 32 and 41, who live near the property in question. All three were arrested and charged.

At the turn of September and October, the residents of the Nowogrodziec municipality came to the site of the tree felling several times in a van belonging to one of them and cut down the trees using saws they had brought with them. They then cut their haul into smaller pieces and transported it to their own yards.
The suspects kept some of the wood and sold some of it. The officers: – At the properties and in the outbuildings used by the perpetrators, officers secured property originating from the crime.
The suspects now face up to five years in prison.
