The incident occurred on October 19, at approximately 3:35 a.m., in Podgórzyn. On Szkolna Street, police officers noticed a Toyota traveling at considerable speed. They decided to check why the driver was in such a hurry.
– After stopping the vehicle, the distressed driver informed them that he was urgently taking his sick five-year-old son to hospital. Among other problems, the child was having difficulty breathing – reports Sub-Inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer for the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra.
She adds:
Given the situation and the threat to the child’s life and health, after informing the duty officer, the officers escorted the car from Podgórzyn to the hospital in Jelenia Góra with their lights and siren activated. At the same time, the duty officer notified the hospital that the sick child was on the way.
She also notes: – The journey had to be made very carefully; despite the early hour, there was exceptionally heavy traffic.
The little boy reached the hospital, where doctors took care of him.
