Officers from the Criminal Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra detained two residents of Jawor County, aged 42 and 31, and a 35-year-old resident of Świdnica County, suspected of theft.
According to the officers’ findings, the incident took place at one of the companies in Jelenia Góra. The men stole a trailer carrying an excavator. The owner estimated the value of the stolen property at PLN 108,000. To prevent identification of the van they had driven to the company premises, the detainees wrapped it in black film so effectively that they blocked the doors. As a result, one of the men had to climb out through the window to hitch the trailer to the vehicle.
The victim notified the police about the incident. While conducting activities in the case, officers used an analysis of camera footage and the information they had gathered to detain the men suspected of the crime in another county just two hours later and recover the stolen property. Police are currently clarifying all the circumstances of the case in detail.
The men were placed in police custody. They will now face court for the crime, for which they may receive a sentence of up to five years in prison. The 42-year-old man was temporarily detained for two months; the 31-year-old was also taken to pre-trial detention because he had a seven-month prison sentence to serve for other offenses; and the 35-year-old was placed under police supervision.
