Jelenia Góra police officers detained a 34-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County suspected of stealing copper components from railway infrastructure. – While carrying out activities in this case, officers, in cooperation with the Chief Headquarters of the Railway Protection Guard, determined that the route between Piechowice and Szklarska Poręba had been repeatedly targeted for theft of copper components from railway infrastructure in August this year – explains Deputy Inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra.
She adds: – The thieves made off with copper contact wire and a copper messenger wire worth more than PLN 130,000 in total.
The suspect turned out to be a 34-year-old from Bolesławiec County. Our local man was detained and has already been charged. He confessed to the crime. He explained that he had sold the stolen property at one of the scrap-metal collection points.
The resident of our county now faces up to eight years in prison.
