Officers from the Criminal Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra arrested a 26-year-old man suspected of fraud and attempted fraud. – As officers established, the man offered interested parties quick profits through investments on the cryptocurrency exchange via social media – explains Asp. Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – In this way, a resident of Wołów County sought to make money and paid nearly PLN 18,000, which the 26-year-old was supposed to invest on the exchange.
However, after the money was paid, contact with the 26-year-old “consultant” suddenly broke off. But that was not the end of it. The devious resident of Jelenia Góra tried to defraud another man in the same way—this time of PLN 10,000—but he did not succeed. Because… he was arrested.
Investigators established that the 26-year-old had been carrying out his scheme since May this year, so there may be many more victims in this case.
The arrested man faces up to eight years in prison.
