The incident occurred at noon on August 17, on the district road between the villages of Pławna Górna and Milęcice in the Lubomierz municipality (Lwówek County). – Preliminary findings by police officers indicate that the driver of a garbage truck, a 25-year-old resident of the Lubomierz municipality, for reasons that remain unclear, moved into the oncoming lane and caused a head-on collision with a moped rider, a 65-year-old resident of the same municipality – reports Senior Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the County Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.

She adds: – As a result of the injuries sustained, the man died at the scene.

The truck driver was sober. Neither he nor the truck’s passenger suffered any injuries.

The police and prosecutor’s office are investigating the case. The spokesperson:

We appeal to all drivers to exercise caution and obey the regulations. Every road user must bear their own safety and the safety of others in mind. Let us remember that even in the event of the slightest collision between a motorcycle and a car, the motorcyclist has the lowest chance of surviving or escaping the accident without injuries.
