Police officers from the Legnica traffic unit, while on duty on the roads of the county, noticed the driver of an Audi who was rapidly approaching a police car on national road No. 94 between Legnica and Chojnów and overtook it where sign B-25, prohibiting overtaking, was in force.
The man, disregarding the signs and applicable regulations, was driving at 157 km/h. The officers stopped the driver and—in accordance with the new penalty schedule—issued fines of PLN 1,000 and PLN 2,500. What is more, the offender received 15 penalty points.
– Under the applicable penalty schedule, such drivers cannot count on any leniency when their behaviour on the road endangers their own safety and that of other road users – explains asp. Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
She adds:
No explanation given by drivers justifies breaking the law, and there are no exceptions in such cases. Reckless driving poses not only a tremendous danger on the roads, but also carries a severe penalty that drivers must expect.
