Last weekend, Bolesławiec police officers arrested a 28-year-old theft suspect. The thief had an easier task because the vehicle was unlocked due to a malfunction.
“The man admitted to committing the crime and explained that, while walking along one of the city’s streets at night, he tried the handle of a parked passenger car. When it turned out that the car was unlocked, he got inside to check whether there were any valuable items,” reports Staff Warrant Officer Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec. “He reached the trunk through the passenger seats, where he found, among other things, car parts.
The losses were estimated at more than PLN 5,000. The 28-year-old resident of our county wanted to sell the loot quickly because he needed money for a trip abroad. The spokesperson said: “The 28-year-old took his offer to the person he had robbed.
The outcome? The thief was arrested, and some of the stolen property was secured in his car. More illicit items were found at the suspect’s home.
As the 28-year-old is a repeat offender, he now faces up to 7.5 years in prison.
