– Anyone interested can come to the station and independently check their sobriety. Using the breathalyzer does not require a police officer’s assistance and is very simple – explains staff officer Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec. She adds:
Next to the breathalyzer, located at the entrance to the station, there are instructions for using the device and explanations of how to interpret the result.
She further explains: – After the test is completed, it will be known within a few seconds whether we can get behind the wheel.
A reminder: Being under the influence of alcohol means having between 0.1 mg/l and 0.25 mg/l of alcohol in exhaled air, which corresponds to between 0.2‰ and 0.5‰. A driver operating a car while “under the influence of alcohol” commits an offense defined in Article 87 §1 of the Code of Petty Offenses.
By contrast, intoxication occurs when the alcohol content in the body is, or leads to, more than 0.25 mg/l in exhaled air or more than 0.5‰. A driver operating a vehicle with such an alcohol concentration commits a crime defined in Article 178a §1 of the Penal Code.
Important!
Police: – We remind you that it is unacceptable for a person who suspects they may be under the influence of alcohol to drive to the test themselves.
