Jelenia Góra criminal investigators were notified about the kidnapping of a 60-year-old resident of Masovian Voivodeship. – According to the report, the 60-year-old, who was staying in Jelenia Góra and in one of the towns in Karkonosze County as a tourist from 11 to 13 July this year, was unlawfully detained and robbed by two men – reports Deputy Inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer of the Jelenia Góra Municipal Police Headquarters. – In his report, he also provided their descriptions and details of the vehicle they were travelling in.
Based on this information, officers detained two residents of Jelenia Góra. The spokesperson said: – After verifying the information provided by the person reporting the incident, as well as analysing surveillance-camera footage and the information obtained in the case, police established that the report was false. They soon also confirmed that no kidnapping had taken place.
It turned out that the man had given false testimony to justify to his family why he had disappeared for several days and why several thousand zlotys had disappeared from his account. The officers said:
During the period in question, the 60-year-old drank alcohol with them, buying it himself and treating them to it. He also spent the night in one of their cars.
They added:
Police are currently investigating all the circumstances of the case in detail. The 60-year-old could face up to two years in prison for reporting a nonexistent crime and giving false testimony.
