Police officers from the Police Station in Kowary identified and then arrested a 29-year-old resident of Karkonosze County suspected of theft.
– “As officers established, the incident occurred on July 25 this year at one of the medical facilities in Kowary. The 29-year-old asked a woman working there where he could find a wheelchair, and when he found it, he ran away with it” – reports Deputy Inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra. The value of the stolen property was estimated at PLN 1,000.
Police began searching for the perpetrator. Surveillance-camera recordings were secured. It was precisely on their basis that officers easily identified the theft suspect. The spokesperson: – “He turned out to be a 29-year-old resident of Karkonosze County well known to them. The man was arrested, and officers found the stolen wheelchair in his apartment.”
The repeat-offender thief was unable to explain why he had stolen the wheelchair. Let us recall that theft is punishable by between three months and as much as five years in prison.
