Police officers from the traffic unit spotted a Fiat driver on one of the streets in Bogatynia who was not wearing a seat belt. – The officers tried to stop him for a roadside inspection. However, despite the visual and audible signals ordering him to stop the vehicle, he accelerated and began to flee – reports Commissioner Agnieszka Goguł, press officer for the Commander of the County Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec. – After a short pursuit, he was stopped.

The driver was a 40-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County who had as many as... five court-ordered bans on driving. It also emerged that he had gotten behind the wheel while under the influence of methamphetamine.

But that was not the end of it. The 40-year-old was carrying fuel containers in the trunk. The spokeswoman said: – The arrested man was taken to the Zgorzelec police headquarters, and the vehicle was towed to the police impound lot.

The man has already been fined, but for the crimes he committed he could still face a sentence of between three months and as many as five years in prison. (Officers are also determining where the fuel carried in the containers came from.)
