A tragic incident occurred on June 28, at approximately 3:15 a.m., on the A4 motorway near the village of Żarska Wieś. Zgorzelec police: – The driver of a Mercedes truck with a trailer, a 41-year-old resident of Bytom County, most likely fell asleep, left his lane and hit the trailer of a stationary Scania truck.

The impact was so strong that the Scania was pushed forward and hit the trailer of a DAF vehicle. Investigators:

As a result of his injuries, a 42-year-old passenger in the Mercedes, a resident of Tarnowskie Góry County, died at the scene, while the driver was taken to hospital.

The other participants in the accident—a 23-year-old resident of Wyszków County and a 24-year-old Ukrainian citizen—were unharmed. The case is being investigated in detail by the prosecutor’s office and police.

Firefighters from the Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service:

On June 28 this year, the Specialized Technical Rescue Group from Bolesławiec took part in operations on kilometer 7 of the A4 motorway in Zgorzelec County, where three trucks collided. The Bolesławiec firefighters stabilized the damaged truck cab, pulled the truck away using a cable winch, and then recovered the fatality with hydraulic tools. The road toward the state border was impassable for several hours.
