– On 14 June 2022, a resident of Kłodzko County parked his moped in front of a shop and, intending to go inside only briefly, left the vehicle’s engine running – reports junior asp. Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the press team of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – The owner’s moment of inattention was taken advantage of by a passing 24-year-old, who got on the moped and drove away.
The owner of the two-wheeler gave chase to the thief. First on foot, and then by car. (A witness to the incident helped the victim by taking him in his vehicle to pursue the thief.)

The further pursuit ended when the moped rider collided with the vehicle chasing him, causing the two-wheeler’s driver to hit a fence around a roadside property.
When community police officers arrived at the scene, it turned out that the 24-year-old thief was drunk; he had a blood alcohol level of 0.8 per mille. What is more, he had jumped onto a moped that was not his while wearing… slippers.
The 24-year-old was unable to explain why he had stolen the two-wheeler. The suspect will now be held responsible for the temporary use of a vehicle and driving while intoxicated. He faces up to five years in prison.
