The Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters on Friday’s incident:

Those responsible for disrupting the course of the incident will now face severe consequences for unjustified aggression against officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters, who undertook what initially appeared to be a routine intervention. The incident took place on the night of 3–4 June this year in Bolesławiec, after officers received a report about noisy youths in the city centre. Community police officers who went to the scene intervened with two people violating the law and completely ignoring their orders. More young people then joined them and likewise disregarded the officers’ orders, so the officers arrested one of the aggressors.

The youths behaved irrationally, which could indicate how much alcohol they had previously consumed, but the officers also do not rule out the use of drugs. Not wanting the 20-year-old to be taken away, they attacked the police officers and damaged the police car, including by smashing one of its windows.

Despite the turn of events, the officers consistently continued their activities with the detainee and left the scene with him. In view of the situation, other police patrols were sent to the city centre and arrested two people who had taken part in the attack on the officers. As a result of further operations conducted by criminal service officers from the Bolesławiec headquarters, two more men were arrested several hours later. The following day brought the arrest of one further person from the group disrupting the police operation. Two community police officers suffered injuries during the incident, but they were minor enough that hospitalisation was not necessary.

The officers add:

Police service can be dangerous; situations repeatedly arise in which the lives and health of officers are at risk, but officers consistently carry out their actions and do not allow anyone to prevent them from performing their official duties, because the safety of residents is most important.
