A resident of the municipality contacted officers from the Police Station in Rudna. He claimed that he had trusted a female friend with whom he had drunk alcohol several days earlier. When they ran out of “fuel,” the partygoer asked his companion to buy another bottle of vodka. He also entrusted her with his payment card and provided the PIN.
The crafty 34-year-old from Lubin County did not hesitate for long and gladly accepted the card. She brought back the promised bottle. The problem was that she “forgot” to return the card, which did not belong to her.
The result? – Over five days, the woman made nearly 70 payment transactions without the owner’s knowledge or consent, reducing his funds by PLN 17,646 – reports aspirant Krzysztof Pawlik, deputy press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin. – An ATM finally stopped her when it retained the already empty and blocked card.
What is more, at the aforementioned party, the 34-year-old also used her friend’s phone. When leaving his apartment, she “accidentally” took the mobile phone, worth PLN 1,000.
The woman was arrested. Police found the stolen mobile phone on her, along with numerous receipts and ATM printouts. The spokesperson said: – The extensive evidence collected in this case made it possible to charge the suspect with a total of 76 offenses, including theft and attempted burglary, misappropriation, and using another person’s document, for which she faces up to 10, up to 3, and up to 2 years in prison, respectively.
