The soldiers of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade in Świętoszów spent hours studying maps and solving tactical dilemmas, as well as relocating both command posts and subunits to designated areas.
Brigade: – An important element of the exercise, carried out on this scale for the first time in many years, was the relocation via the so-called Hannibal route. The subunits moving to the training area in Drawsko Pomorskie had to cover approximately 350 kilometers, including crossing the Oder River. In the area around Krosno Odrzańskie, the Oder was the greatest terrain obstacle, being more than 200 meters wide and over 3.5 meters deep. The subunits crossed to the other bank along the riverbed and also by swimming.
The soldiers faced tasks related not only to relocating the brigade, but also to conducting counter-sabotage operations.
The military added:
The exercising subunits had to contend with an operational situation that was constantly and dynamically changing. This, in turn, made it possible to hone the participants’ skills in solving complex tactical problems. Their response to the incidents sent to them was continuously monitored and subjected to meticulous assessment. During the maneuvers, the soldiers cooperated with non-military system units, such as the police, fire service and local authorities.
The main purpose of the exercise is to test the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade’s ability to carry out tasks in accordance with its wartime mission.
