Firing took place at the same distances as during the competition, namely 300, 600 and 800 meters. First, however, they began by zeroing their weapons, which is carried out at a distance of 100 meters. Only after achieving perfect grouping do they move on to greater distances.

As one of the dragoons said, weather conditions—namely wind, temperature and air humidity—as well as the bullet’s mass and the powder charge are highly significant when zeroing a weapon.

Snipers are soldiers trained in precision shooting over long distances. They are masters of concealment and camouflage. Their weapon is a sniper rifle: a specially selected firearm equipped with a telescopic sight, night-vision device or another sight enabling accurate long-range fire.

The sniper’s main task on the battlefield is to eliminate important targets at long distances, in the shortest possible time. What distinguishes them is patience, precision and the ability to make quick, sound decisions.
