– I would like to thank the command and soldiers for their great dedication and perseverance in activities aimed at defending our Homeland. Your service is a source of pride for the residents of Bolesławiec and constitutes an important element of the security of the Republic of Poland – these words, together with anniversary wishes for the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, were addressed by the mayor of Bolesławiec Piotr Roman to Colonel Marek Wasielewski, commander of the Bolesławiec artillerymen, and the entire military community.
The 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment is stationed in the Bolesławiec garrison and is part of the 11th Lubusz Armoured Cavalry Division. The regiment was formed pursuant to the Decision of the Minister of National Defence dated 14 February 2011 and the Order of the Commander of the Land Forces dated 8 April 2011 concerning the reorganisation of Land Forces artillery units.
As a result of the transformation of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Brigade, the unit began training activities in new organisational structures at the beginning of 2012. The regiment’s history and establishment began with the assumption of duties by its commander, which took place on 26 August 2011 in Bolesławiec’s market square.
