The incident took place last week. Employees of the Legnica Ambulance Service (the Legnica and Lubin branches) undertook the transport of patients (elderly people) in two non-system ambulances from the Polish-Ukrainian border. (The patients were of Polish origin.)
Paramedic Szymon Czyżewski, spokesperson for the Legnica Ambulance Service:
The patients, who came from Berdychiv near Zhytomyr, were transported by passenger cars from one of the Ukrainian hospitals to the border, where the rescuers took them aboard ambulances and transported them to the University Clinical Hospital on Borowska Street in Wrocław.
He adds: “As a result, these patients will receive treatment at a specialist facility in Poland and will be able to spend the rest of their lives in their homeland.”
He also emphasizes:
We are grateful to our employees for their several-hour effort, dedication of their free time and full professionalism in carrying out the task.
Teams from other provinces also took part in the operation.
