The incident occurred on Saturday, February 26, in the evening, in the village of Kraśnik Górny. As reported by the Lwówek na sygnale:
[…] two men were travelling on a quad bike along a dirt fire road; the driver lost control of the vehicle, hit a tree and then overturned onto its side.
One of the men travelling in the buggy died at the scene. Police and the prosecutor’s office are investigating the causes and circumstances of the tragedy.

As established by officers from the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters:
A 48-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County, driving a buggy on a forest road, lost control of the vehicle for undetermined reasons and hit a tree. The driver died at the scene. The 34-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with general contusions.
They added:
The individuals were travelling without helmets and seat belts.
