The theft took place on Friday. A young woman was walking her dog. At Plac Popiełuszki on Asnyka Street, she lost her phone, driving licence and payment card. The valuable items were found by a group of young people (three boys and a girl). Our camera, installed on a high-rise building, recorded the entire situation. The young people later used the card to pay for alcohol and switched off the phone so it could not be tracked.
We described the entire case and published a video from the camera, along with an appeal to the perpetrators to return the items. The case attracted considerable attention, and many people saw the recording.
After one day, one of the boys—the one who picked up the phone from the ground—contacted us. It turned out that he was a minor. He apologised for the whole situation and, together with his mother, returned the money for the phone and the purchases—over PLN 2,200. They returned the money because the phone, driving licence and card had been destroyed. Unfortunately, the other three people did not contact us at all.
We are pleased that the case has a happy ending. The cameras, purchased and operated with money from istotne.pl, mean that we can not only admire beautiful Bolesławiec, but also help in unpleasant situations. We always respond quickly, because time matters in such incidents.
