The prosecutor supported the police initiative and asked the court to detain the aggressive 31-year-old. The court ordered the attacker held in pre-trial detention for three months.

Let us recall. The dramatic incident took place on February 3, before 7 p.m., in Ząbkowice County. “Police officers went to intervene in connection with a suspected break-in at one of the apartments,” asp. szt. Łukasz Dutkowiak from the press team of the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Wrocław reported at the time. “The report indicated that the perpetrator was highly agitated and behaving irrationally, and that shortly before he had forcibly broken down the door.”

As the intruder’s behavior could have endangered the residents’ lives, the officers decided to neutralize the threat. When they entered the corridor leading directly to the aforementioned apartment, the 31-year-old pulled out a pistol and shot a police officer in the head.

The attacker was immediately subdued and arrested. Shortly afterward, an air pistol that the burglar had used in the active assault on the officer was also secured.

The attacker was probably under the influence of drugs. Moreover, he had already been convicted of other offenses.

Officers risk their lives and health practically every day so that others do not have to and can feel safe. A crisis and the need to confront a threat may arise at any moment.

The officers add:
