The incident took place on Thursday evening, January 13, on the provincial road between Złotoryja and Legnica. “Road traffic officers established that the driver was a 27-year-old Ukrainian citizen. While driving a Volkswagen passenger car, he lost control of the vehicle, left the road and overturned. He ultimately ended his journey in a ditch,” explains Staff Sergeant Dominika Kwakszys, press officer for the District Police Headquarters in Złotoryja. “The man got out of the car under his own power.”

Fortunately, the 27-year-old was not seriously injured. However, it emerged that the Ukrainian had got behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol; a test showed 0.6 per mille in his exhaled breath.

The result? The foreign national has already lost his driving licence. He now faces up to two years in prison.
