Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski:

We remind you that the changes to the fine schedule, which came into force on 1 January 2022, introduced harsher penalties, among others, for offences involving riding a bicycle after consuming alcohol (between 0.2 and 0.5 per mille) and under the influence of alcohol—above 0.5 per mille. In the first case, the cyclist will pay 1,000 zlotys; in the second, 2,500.

A cyclist who was stopped by police in Gryfów Śląski on 4 January may soon find out just how drastically the fines have increased. The spokeswoman:

It turned out that the man was intoxicated. The test showed nearly 1 per mille of alcohol in his system.

Under the new regulations, the intoxicated cyclist from Gryfów Śląski therefore faces a fine of no less than 2,500 zlotys.
