Zgorzelec traffic police checked the driver of a passenger BMW near one of the border-area petrol stations. – During the inspection, officers found that the man was transporting four passengers who had no documents authorising them to stay legally in our country – reports asp. szt. Łukasz Dutkowiak from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
He adds:
Officers quickly established that the driver was a 37-year-old resident of Lublin Voivodeship, while his passengers turned out to be men aged between 20 and 30, probably from Eritrea.
Further actions confirmed that the foreigners had attempted to enter the territory of the Republic of Poland illegally. What is more, it came to light that the Polish “transporter” was carrying drugs. The spokesperson said: – Everything indicates that the man was driving the car despite a court-imposed ban and while under the influence of drugs.
Border guards took charge of the foreigners’ case. The 37-year-old from the Lublin region will now face charges including assisting illegal border crossing, drug possession, and driving under the influence of drugs despite a court ban.
