For police officers, the holiday period is always a time of intensive work, especially when it comes to ensuring road safety. Lower Silesian officers checked drivers’ speed and sobriety, vehicle roadworthiness and how passengers were transported. They also paid attention to pedestrians, compliance with regulations on wearing reflective elements and adherence to sanitary restrictions.
During the three-day holiday weekend, 15 accidents occurred on Lower Silesia’s roads, injuring 17 people. Unfortunately, one of those injured died in hospital.
The holiday period was not free of intoxicated drivers on the roads. Officers arrested 43 drivers who decided to get behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol.
Police officers watched over the safety of everyone travelling on the roads of our voivodeship. They responded to violations of the law by drivers, especially those who drove dangerously: too fast, overtook incorrectly or failed to yield the right of way.
