The incident occurred on Thursday, 23 December, outside Kaufland supermarket. In the evening, the emergency services received a report that someone had left a small child in a parked car.

The officers confirmed the report. However, there was no need to break the window. The little boy left the vehicle on his own. The officers took him to the police car so that he could warm up.

The 36-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County, who left his 5-year-old son unattended in the car, was fined PLN 500 under Article 106 of the Code of Petty Offences, which reads:

Anyone who, while under an obligation to care for or supervise a minor under the age of 7 or another person unable to recognise or defend themselves against danger, allows that person to remain in circumstances dangerous to human health shall be liable to a fine or a reprimand.
