Jeleniogórscy criminal investigators established the identities and then arrested two young men (aged 19 and 20) suspected of robbery involving a dangerous weapon.

The incident occurred during the night of 15–16 December at one of the illegal casinos in Jelenia Góra. The attackers threatened an employee with a knife and pepper spray and then stole… PLN 1,000.

As reported by Deputy Inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer for the Jelenia Góra Municipal Police Headquarters:

Officers notified of the robbery began searching for the men who had committed it. Based on the information collected in the case and an analysis of surveillance-camera footage, they identified and arrested a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old several hours later as suspects in the offence.

Some of the money was also recovered. It also emerged that the younger suspect had other offences on his record.

What about the “casino”?

During procedural activities, officers from the Department for Combating Economic Crime of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra, together with officers of the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wałbrzych, seized nine illegal machines used to organise and conduct gambling games. The machines are worth PLN 18,000. It was estimated that the State Treasury had lost PLN 900,000.

Let us recall that the owner of the premises and the owner of the machines face a fine of PLN 100,000 for each seized machine and up to three years’ imprisonment.

What about the suspects?

The attackers were first taken into police custody, and then a Jelenia Góra court remanded them in custody for three months. Both suspects face up to 15 years in prison.
