On December 20, late in the evening, the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica was informed by a 33-year-old resident of Legnica that, after hitting a properly parked vehicle, a female driver had driven away from the scene—as if nothing had happened. The caller had serious doubts about the woman’s sobriety behind the wheel.
And as it turned out, quite rightly so. Asp. Krzysztof Oleniacz of the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters:
Upon arriving at the scene without delay, Legnica police officers prevented the 34-year-old Legnica resident from continuing to drive.
The officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol from the driver and subjected her to a test. The spokesperson said:
A breathalyzer test showed more than 4.5‰, an infamous record for a resident of our city.
The police said:
We commend the responsible attitude of the person who reported the incident and took seriously the danger created by the irresponsible driver.
The 34-year-old now faces up to two years in prison.
