Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec:
In accordance with the recommendations, the lime tree growing beside the tower was reduced by approximately 4 metres. Special flexible bracing was also installed to protect the main leaders from splitting and uncontrolled falling.
Meanwhile, on the horse chestnut growing deeper in the park, a branch was reduced and shoots growing from the base were selectively removed to prevent breakage. Flexible bracing was also installed on the tree to secure the branch above the wall and protect the main leaders from splitting.
The maintenance and safety work is coordinated by Grażyna Polanica-Traczyńska, a landscape designer, long-time employee of heritage conservation offices and specialist in the protection of historic green areas.
The institution adds:
It is also worth recalling that the park by the museum is located in the oldest, northern part of Bolesławiec’s Planty. A detailed development plan for the area was drawn up in 1842 by the Beautification Society (Verschönerungsverein), initiating the transformation of the former fortification grounds into a city promenade. The simply designed layout consisted of several flower beds with a centrally located path. Trees were planted in the middle of the rectangular lawns, using native species such as pedunculate oak, broad-leaved and small-leaved lime, sycamore maple, common beech and horse chestnut.
The maintenance work will continue.
