Criminal investigators, together with officers from the Economic Crime Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra, detained a 40-year-old man suspected of putting a counterfeit banknote into circulation and possessing two other forged banknotes.
– The man was detained on November 30, after police received a report of a suspected counterfeit 100-zloty banknote being put into circulation. Officers established that one of the customers who had ordered a pizza for delivery to an address paid for the purchase with this banknote – reports Sub-Inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer of the Jelenia Góra Municipal Police Headquarters. – Following this lead, police went to the indicated apartment. There they found a 40-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra who had ordered the pizza. As part of further activities in the case, officers searched his apartment, where they additionally found two other counterfeit banknotes with denominations of 50 and 100 zlotys.
Police are now clarifying all the circumstances of the case in detail. The 40-year-old was first taken into police custody and was then brought before the prosecutor's office, where he was placed under police supervision.
The suspect now faces up to 10 years in prison.
