Zgorzelec traffic police were sent to a collision involving two vehicles, which occurred in Zawidów. At the scene, officers found only one of the participants in the incident; the other had left.
– Officers arrested him on his way home – says commissioner Agnieszka Goguł, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec.
The police determined that the 64-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County, who was driving a Volkswagen, failed to exercise due caution while passing an oncoming vehicle and hit an Audi traveling correctly in its lane.
What is more, it emerged that the offender, who – as if nothing had happened – went home after the crash, was completely drunk; he had more than 2 parts per thousand of alcohol in his system.

The man will now face charges not only for causing the collision, but also for driving while intoxicated.
