– In October and November, officers of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec received reports of fraud involving the sale of various items online. Instead of receiving payment from a potential buyer, the victims lost money from their own bank accounts – the District Police Headquarters reports.

The deceived residents of Bolesławiec County wanted to sell a television, books and a coffee machine. One of them was looking for an appraiser. Staff Aspirant Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the Bolesławiec police:

They were all defrauded in the same way. The sellers received a link that redirected them to a website deceptively similar to a classified-ad service, or they received a message via WhatsApp.

And she adds:

To receive the payment for the goods, they had to provide their card number and other important information, which gave the criminals easy access to their bank accounts and enabled them to make a transfer.
