On November 2, police were notified of an attempt to pay with “souvenir” 50-złoty banknotes at one of the shops in Gryfów Śląski. As officers established, an elderly woman had no idea that the money she wanted to use for payment was not genuine.
It later emerged that the fraud had been committed by a 24-year-old resident of Gryfów Śląski. Taking advantage of an elderly man’s unawareness, he defrauded him by exchanging a genuine 100 zloty note for imitations of 50-zloty banknotes bearing the inscription “souvenir”, meaning “keepsake” in French. keepsake.
The 24-year-old was detained. “In the detainee’s wallet, officers found more fake ‘banknotes’ bearing the inscription ‘souvenir’,” reports Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.

The man admitted to the charges against him. He faces up to eight years in prison for the crime committed.
