On November 1, 2021, at around 12:00 p.m., the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra received a report that on one of the streets in Jelenia Góra’s Zabobrze housing estate, a small child in pajamas was sitting on the windowsill of a third-floor window, with her legs hanging down. And waving her arms. “The report froze the blood in our veins,” says junior aspirant Aleksandra Pieprzycka of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
She adds:
The police immediately went to the indicated address, where the caller was waiting. The woman informed them that shortly beforehand the child had gone into the apartment and that the window was almost closed.
A 20-year-old woman opened the apartment door for the officers; as it turned out, she was the mother of the 2-year-old girl. The 20-year-old stated that her partner had left the ajar window when he went to work, while she was sleeping at the time. The situation had occurred due to her inattention.
Fortunately, the child was unharmed. The mother was charged with exposing her 2-year-old daughter to the immediate danger of loss of life or harm to health. The spokeswoman said: “She will now answer for her actions before the court, and she could face up to 5 years in prison.”
The police applied to the family court to investigate the situation in the family.
