The incident took place in Legnica. Concerned residents of one of the streets notified the duty officer at the local city police headquarters that loud music could be heard from vehicles standing in the middle of the road. Because of the late hour, officers were sent to the scene, where they immediately noticed a van blocking the road and two men next to it. During the conversation, the officers detected a strong smell of alcohol on their breath. The test showed nearly 2.7 parts per mille of alcohol in the 32-year-old man's system and 1.7 parts per mille in that of the 26-year-old irresponsible driver.

The police determined that one of the men was having trouble starting his car, so his colleague came to help him. Disregarding other road users and their state of alcohol intoxication, the extremely irresponsible drivers tried to tow the immobilised car, ultimately stopping in the middle of the road.

The men were charged with driving a vehicle while intoxicated, an offence punishable by up to two years in prison, a hefty fine and a ban on driving motor vehicles.
