An unusual sight met the eyes of the soldiers standing guard at the entrance to the Polish base in Ghazni. Afghans brought their injured compatriot (approximately 25 years old) on a wheelbarrow and asked for help for him. The man had been riding a bicycle when he was hit by a car. If no one had helped him, he would not have survived.
The decision was made immediately: an ambulance was called and took the injured man to the Polish medical facility at the base (he was given first aid by a Polish-American team).
The man suffered extensive head injuries and a cervical spine injury. He was conscious but had lost a great deal of blood. He was taken to the operating theatre and then transported to a local hospital in Ghazni. His condition is stable.
The perpetrator fled the scene of the accident.
Soldiers from the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment are also stationed at the Ghazni base (Afghanistan). The Bolesławiec artillerymen are co-creators of the Fire Support Group of the 6th rotation of the Polish Task Forces. You can read more about this HERE.
