The entire incident took place on Sunday, 11 April, in Rakowice Małe. At around 3 p.m., officers noticed a tractor driving along the road, with a cyclist riding beside it. When they saw the police car, both drivers began behaving strangely.
– When the police decided to conduct a check, the tractor driver left it in the middle of the road and began fleeing on foot. He was apprehended shortly afterward. A strong smell of alcohol was detectable from him, reports Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer for the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski. – During the proceedings, the cyclist also rode up to the officers. Like his companion, whom he had been riding beside, he was intoxicated. Both men, Ukrainian nationals, registered nearly 1 per mille of alcohol.
The spokeswoman adds:
The driver of the slow-moving vehicle will be charged with the crime of driving while intoxicated, while the cyclist will be charged with the offense of operating another motor vehicle while intoxicated.
